Post Graduation Autopsy - Part 1

"The time has come," the Speaker said,
"To talk of your careers:
Of grades - and jobs - and post-grad plans,
Of cum laudes - and of cheers -
And while in your cap and motor-board -
We reflect upon these four years."

Alright, so maybe poetry isn't my strong suit. I would, however, like to take a little trip down memory lane and do a top five expectation/reality. Now that I have walked the hallowed halls of my university for the last time, I think it only fitting to make a comparison of my dreamy freshman expectations and my post graduation realizations.

Expectation
1. I'll work very, very hard and maybe graduate with honors.
2. I'll meet a ton of new people and make a lot of new friends.
3. I'll have a whole range of new and exciting experiences!
4. I'll have the time and freedom to pursue new avenues of study,
5. I'll be able to grow and find who I am in this big world.

Reality
1. I've worked very, very hard and graduated magna cum laude.
2. I've met more people than I can possible count, and made a handful of very good friends along the way.
3. I've had a lot of new experiences, some good, some bad, some in between, but every single one of them has helped me to grow.
4. I've learned what is really important to me, and what I'm willing to sacrifice and what I'm willing to sacrifice it for.
5. I'm the same person I was before, just older and wiser, and that is who I should most like to be. :)

  1. Your poem was awesome! I give it the "Me Stamp of Approval".
